Grain Site Visit, England

Hey folks, time for some news again, after weeks of deathly silence :) Here we go: I've been in England the first three days of May. A weekend trip with the aim to receive an impression on how an HVDC (high voltage direct current) switchgear looks like. The switchgear I will work on in Maasvlakte (Netherlands), starting in July, will be exactly the same. Anyway, beside the site visit we used our tiny part of freetime and checked out bordered cities and areas. See following pictures:

Ligament Rupture

By the way, I know that basketball is not the perfect sport for me. Plenty of doctors have told me that, again and again. But I cannot stop playing it. And in appreciation of this I am suffering from ligament rupture. My third time now, second time the right ankle. No sport for 6 weeks ... Damn it!!!

Happy Easter!

Some days to relax were really needed after stressful weeks at work. So I found my way south - destination: Berchtesgaden. (That's already the third time in the Alps this year - kinda awesome!) The hotel we found to crash down was not too bad. A plentiful breakfast and dinner buffet was waiting every morning and evening. Nice little day excursions ended up in completely tiredness after relaxing 15 minutes in a vulcano-hot sauna and massage afterwards. That's what I call a good one...

Time to say good bye after 14 years. Could have been some more ... :(

Weekend on the road again!

I spent some time on travelling again. On Friday, I found myself in the position of a street race co-pilot. Uwe, one of my best mates down in Erlangen, rushed the 220 km distance in approx 90 minutes. I've never been in Erfurt that fast - record!!!

The journey continued on Saturday morning. Destination: Hannover, CeBit. The CeBit itself wasn't that special if you don't have any interests to look at. It was the last day, a lot of (always crowded) stands were packing up their things early and it was fun anyway.

After a night in Hannover, we made our way back south to Göttingen (meeting some good old friends again) - Erfurt - Erlangen.

Frutt, here we go again!

It was time again, time to leave the real world behind and enjoy the beautiful scene at a hight of 2000m or even higher. And that means an action-packed skiing adventure at its best - more than that this time. There were 5 of us, Kari ;) and Hoschi, two college guys of mine, as well as Frieda and Claus, both from Erfurt, now students in Erlangen. How simple is that? :)

The first activity after the arrival: chess and iced beer. I mean, we had this drink with us where ever we go, even in the sauna. The most important thing is: You have to sip regularly, otherwise the can gets too hot, and the beer as well.

Claus performing one of his 360 jump. Hehe no just kidding, just a jump without rotation, but he brought it home and got it to go.

Hehe one of those countless (but deserved) breaks with a nice hot "tea" in one's hand. We used it as refreshment and to regain power. Eating noodles the whole day long is good, but not that effective :D

Another event was the FIS night world cup slalom of the women (Well, I don't know the exact name for this). The ladys have been so fast, I couldn't even make a sharp picture. This was unreal, and they must be kinda insane to race down the piste that fast. Some of them couldn't make it, so we took the chance for taking pictures.

Melchsee Frutt - what a beauty. See you next time again!!!
